Iconz Models celebrating their victory at the event
The 7th edition of the annual Ghana Models Awards took centre stage last Friday at the Accra Tourist Information Centre (ATIC) in Kanda.
The prestigious event celebrated outstanding achievements in Ghana’s modelling industry, awarding professional models and agencies that excelled over the past year.
The ceremony saw an enthusiastic audience cheering for the winners, with some notable highlights including Iconz Models being crowned Model Agency of the Year, while Nana Sam E. Sackeyfio received the coveted anniversary gift; a car.
Aisha Napari and Glenn Zime were recognised as the Overall Female and Male Models of the Year, solidifying their status as leading figures in the industry.
Founder of the Ghana Models Awards, Jerry Wonder Sampson, emphasised the importance of professional models taking pride in their craft and making their voices heard in shaping the industry.
“Next week, we are all voting, and so let’s remember to vote wisely. Let’s look at what we need as professional models and vote accordingly,” he urged.
He also praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s proposed Travel Policy Service as a potential breakthrough for Ghanaian models, making it easier for them to participate in international events.
“As models, you need to take your talent to the world stage. This policy could reduce the harsh bureaucracy faced when travelling, allowing more of you to showcase your skills globally. It’s a game-changer that will grow careers and bring more financial opportunities,” he stated.
The evening was a feast for fashion enthusiasts, featuring vibrant runway displays by both local and international designers, including Vive Clothing, E.1 Collection, Greg Jones, Vivo Couture, and Candy Couture.
The Ghana Models Awards has remained consistent since 2020, building a reputation as a vital platform for recognising and rewarding talent within the modelling and fashion industries.
Other winners include Modelling School of the Year, Exopa Modelling School; Most Promising Model Agency of the Year, Iconz Models; Commercial Female Model of the Year, Nana Sam E. Sackeyfio; Commercial Male Model of the Year, Eugene Sappor, and Editorial Female Model of the Year, Efya Harmless.
The Ghana Models Awards 2024 was proudly sponsored by the Nii Noi Nortey Foundation, Ghandour Cosmetics Ltd, Daily Guide Network, and Glasel Company Ltd, reinforcing its status as a premier event in the modelling industry.
This year’s edition marked a significant step in celebrating the achievements of Ghana’s modelling community and laying the groundwork for further industry growth.
