After a brief hiatus, Ghana’s first-ever models awards scheme, Ghana Models Awards, is set to make a comeback this year in a more unique way.

The founder of the award, Jerry Wonder, who made the announcement yesterday, emphasized that the scheme seeks to improve the modelling profession in Ghana. He disclosed the event will take place on August 21, 2020 at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

The Ghana Models Awards seeks to honour models and stakeholders in the modelling and fashion industry. The first edition was held in 2013. The event was put on hold for a while but it’s returning this year.

There would be new categories in order to encourage models in some unique areas of the profession as well as models of Ghanaian heritage who are excelling abroad.

“This year, we are going to celebrate our hardworking achievers within the modelling fraternity in Ghana who indeed made some impact in 2019. We will also be adding a new category to include our brothers and sisters doing very well on other continents. The event will come off at a very serene but glamorous venue which we will later announce later,” he said.

Among Ghanaian models who once received awards from the previous events were Ian Wordi, who took home three awards, including the overall male model of the year, and Victoria Michaels, who received the overall female model of the year award.
