The maiden edition of the annual Ghana Music & Arts Awards Europe (GMAAE) 2019 has been launched in Accra, with a call on Ghanaian music stakeholders to come together and work as a team to promote Ghanaian music on the international platforms.
The ceremony was used to unveil various categories and packages for the winners of the maiden edition of the awards ceremony, which is on the theme: ‘celebrating rich Ghanaian culture and tourism’.
Some of the categories are artiste of the year, best African act, best rapper of the year, DJ of the year, actor and actress of the year, amongst others.
Submission of entries for nominations officially began yesterday, and it will end on September 10, 2019.
Speaking at the launch of the event held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra last Friday, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Young Mission Entertainment (YME), Ebenezer Frimpong Amoako, said he is poised to work closely with all music stakeholders to promote Ghanaian music on the world music scene.
He indicated that GMAAE rope will be marked by a number of activities leading to the main event. These include awards dialogue and workshop, a nominees’ jam, among others.
The event attracted a number of personalities like chiefs, actors, musicians, industry players, a cross-section of the media, as well as the president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour).
It witnessed live musical performances from Fameye, AB Crentsil, Danny Beatz, Wamba Africa Cultural Group, among others.
The red carpet was hosted by Priscilla Opoku Agyeman (Ahuofe Patri) and Aaron Ayiih, whilst Jay Foley hosted the launch ceremony.
The event is being organised by Young Mission Entertainment (YME) in partnership with FOKS Entertainment.
