Ghana Rice Interprofessional Body Elects New Executives

The Ghana Rice Interprofessional Body (GRIB) has elected new executives.

On Friday, May 21, 2021, GRIB, the umbrella body of rice value chain stakeholders in Ghana, held its annual general meeting at the Consir Executive Lodge in Accra where the new executives were elected.

President of GRIB, Nana Kwabena Adjei Ayeh II was re-elected unopposed. He won all 39 valid votes casted for the presidential election.

At the end of the polls supervised by the Electoral Commission, Dennis Obeng Adjei, was elected as the Vice President.

David Yaw Mensah was elected as GRIB’s Financial Secretary.

Two other members namely Mahama A. Bukai and Sylvia Tamakloe, are to serve as non-elected executives.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the election, Mr Ayeh II said
GRJB is a rice value chain organization which works with farmers, aggregators, marketers, and consumers.

He said every three years, executives are brought together for election.

“Our mandate is to promote local rice which we call the Ghana Rice,” he stated.

He urged the newly elected executives to work hard for the benefit of rice farmers.

According to him, technical committees are being set up to help the executives.

He therefore expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him.
