The second edition of the Ghana Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Young Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) Summit and Expo was launched on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in Accra.

This year’s summit, which is slated for November 26 at the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City Accra, is under the theme, “Corporate Leadership Governance and Technology: Strong Pillars for Business and Economic Growth.”

It would bring together CEOs, business leaders, stakeholders, investors, service providers, regulators, government representatives and thought-leaders to discuss current issues.

Speaking at the launch, Ernest De-Graft Egyir, the CEO and Founder of Chief Executives Network Ghana, stated, “The theme aims to better equip CEOs and entrepreneurs with the strategic leadership capabilities.”

There will be panel, plenary sessions and open fora, as well as networking event.

Members of the panel would discuss topics such as Policy and Regulation, SME Finance, Business Growth, Technology, Women CEOs and SME Rising.

In addition, there would be a trade show specifically for the SMEs.

BUSINESS GUIDE has gathered that the idea is to help promote SMEs in order to create more inclusive growth and strong SME sector.

The Managing Director of Unilever Ghana Limited, Yeo Ziobeieton stated, “SMEs constitute 92 percent of businesses registered in Ghana by the Registrar General’s Office, and provides 85 percent of manufacturing employment, contributing an estimated 70 percent to the GDP of the country.”

He commended the leaders of SMEs for transforming the economy in Ghana.

Dr Daniel Mckorley of the McDan Group, who chaired the event, explained that “in the coming days as we prepare for the summit, I urge all stakeholders to become ambassadors of the summit to ensure we have the right turnout and national attention. This will ensure that the SME and Young CEOs Summit becomes a platform for Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.”
