Ghana To Host First Canada Partners’ Forum

The High Commission of Canada in Ghana has announced that it will be hosting the first Canada Partners’ Forum since 2019 on January 23 and 24, 2024.

The event aims to bring together representatives from over 45 international assistance organizations in Ghana to strengthen partnerships and enhance collaboration for sustainable development in the country.

In a statement, the High Commission of Canada in Ghana said “For over 60 years, Canada has been actively involved in providing development assistance in Ghana. Through partnerships with the Government of Ghana, local and international civil society organizations, multilateral agencies, and academia, Canada has been working towards supporting Ghana and its people in achieving their development goals. With an annual investment of approximately CAD 95 million, Canada is currently engaged in 40 operational development projects across the country, focusing on various sectors such as agriculture, health, gender equality, environment, and climate change, under Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.

“The Canada Partners’ Forum 2024 aims to achieve three main objectives – Better Partnerships, Better Programs, and Better Results. The event will provide a platform for partners to exchange ideas, network, coordinate efforts, and learn from each other. It will also help in mapping out common strategies and opportunities to respond to Ghana’s development agenda and meet local needs. Additionally, the forum will focus on deepening work in thematic portfolios, building synergies between projects, and sharing valuable lessons learned from project implementation.

The event will commence with opening remarks from Her Excellency Ms. Martine Moreau, Canada’s High Commissioner to Ghana. Ms. Moreau will highlight Canada’s long-standing partnership with Ghana and its commitment to supporting the country’s development priorities. Following the opening remarks, a Marketplace of projects supported by Canada will be showcased, highlighting the significant work done in the areas of inclusive economic growth, health and nutrition, gender equality, and environment and climate action. Chief Directors from key partner ministries, including the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, will also share their development priorities and views on enhancing collaboration with development partners.”

The event will be attended by senior representatives of the Government of Ghana, partners from local and international civil society organizations, the private sector, the United Nations, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund.

The Canada Partners’ Forum 2024 is an important milestone in strengthening partnerships and collaboration for sustainable development in Ghana. It signifies Canada’s continued commitment to supporting Ghana’s development goals and building a better future for its people.
