Ghanaian Actors Form New Guild

A new association for Ghanaian actors has been formed to fight the cause of the country’s actors.

This has happened several years after Ghana Actors’ Guild (GAG), the first umbrella body of actors in Ghana, appeared to have failed in its mandate to win the support of every actor.

The new association is called the Screen Actors’ Guild Ghana, and it has some of the country’s big name actors as its members.

Among them are Ken Fiati, Ekow Smith-Asante, Yvonne Nelson, Luckie Lawson, Peter Ritchie, Akosua Kekeli of Efiewura fame, Victoria Lebene Mekpa and a host of others.

NEWS-ONE was reliably informed that members of the new guild have been holding meetings at different levels to make things work for the guild.

Last Sunday, they had a similar meeting at Luckie Lawson’s Mangoes Restaurant at East Legon in Accra, where different issues were discussed to make the guild stand the test of time.

Long before now, GAG has been the parent association for the welfare of actors in Ghana and has branches in the regions of the country.

But with the emergence of Screen Actors’ Guild Ghana, there is a reason to be worried since it may affect GAG’s influence.
