Daniel Nunoo (R)
Austrian Bundesliga side SK Rapid Vienna have rewarded Ghanaian winger Daniel Nunoo with an improved contract following his impressive performances since joining the club.
The 20-year-old has signed an extension that will keep him at the Allianz Stadion until the end of the 2029/30 season. His previous deal was due to expire next summer.
Managing director Markus Katzer said the early extension reflects the club’s confidence in the youngster’s talent, professionalism and potential. “Daniel Nunoo is a perfect fit for our team,” he told the club’s official website.
“He behaved impeccably during what was a particularly difficult time for him recently and worked hard every single day.”
Katzer added that he and coach Johannes Hoff Thorup are convinced Nunoo has exceptional potential and can become an even more important part of the team in the medium term. “I look forward to seeing him back on the wing in our matches as soon as possible,” he said.
Nunoo joined Rapid from Ghanaian side Shooting Stars FC in September 2024 for an undisclosed fee. He started out with the reserve team, scoring three goals in 25 league appearances, and also found the net once in four UEFA Youth League appearances, including a goal against Swiss side FC Basel.
His consistent displays earned promotion to the senior side, where he recorded one goal and one assist in five appearances before an injury interrupted his progress.
The right-footed winger is expected to return to action later this month as Rapid chase the Austrian Bundesliga title.
Nunoo has yet to represent Ghana at any level, but his development in Austria could put him in contention for a first call-up to the Under-23 national team.
