GHL Bank Supports School Feeding Programme

Sylvia Adadey presents the items to Gertrude Quashigah

GHL Bank has reached out to children in deprived communities through the donation of exercise books and 10,000 bowls to the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

The items donated by the bank are to be distributed to deprived kids.

The move forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility which seeks to support disadvantaged communities in areas where the bank operates in.

Presenting the bowls to the organization, Sylvia Adadey, Supervisor for Corporate Communications and Brand Management at GHL Bank said, “Education and the wellbeing of children are areas the bank seeks to support, as they are key to the development of the nation. We saw a dire need in this area, as the programme struggles with distributing food to children due to logistical challenges such as lack of bowls.”

Gertrude Quashigah was delighted and expressed her gratitude to the bank for the gesture.

“We are so excited about this donation and thank GHL Bank. The bowls will be distributed to selected schools in the Volta, Central, Ashanti and Greater Accra Regions where they will go a long way to alleviate some of the operational hitches faced by some schools under the programme.”

She also called on other corporate bodies to support the programme, stating that no offer of help is too small.

The programme was launched in 2005 with the goal of contributing to poverty reduction and increased food security in Ghana.

It’s intended to address malnutrition, reduce hunger among school children, increase enrolment, attendance and retention and boost domestic food production.

The objectives align closely with the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) related to hunger, poverty and primary education.
