The late Philip Motey
Burial service was held last Saturday for the late Assistant Inspector of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Philip Motey, at the Evangelical Church, Lashibi in Accra.
The late Philip Motey, who was stationed at the Missiga border post, together with other two officers, Assistant Inspector Lawrence Afari and Eric Ayidiya, died when he and the other two officers were attacked and shot by unknown assailants at Bawku in the Upper East Region.
Late Mr. Motey was pronounced dead upon arrival after he was rushed to the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital, while the other two officers survived though sustaining various degrees of injuries.
The GIS, in a tribute, said the deceased demonstrated his commitment to rigorous training and was hardworking throughout his work in the service until his demise last month.
In his sermon, the Chaplain of the GIS, Rev. Chief Superintendent Michael Baakwaw admonished family members, friends, and personnel of the GIS, and sympathisers to live their lives to please God as they do not know when they would die.
Family members and friends eulogised him as a selfless, compassionate and hardworking personality, and would therefore be missed.
Head of Public Affairs at the GIS, Chief Superintendent Amoako-Atta said that the perpetrators of the murder of the late Motey were yet to be apprehended.
He, however, indicated that the GIS would continue to work with the security agencies, particularly the Ghana Police Service, to apprehend the perpetrators.
Present at the service was the Chief Director at the Ministry for the Interior, Mrs. Abigail Annor Kumi; the Director General of the Narcotics Control Commission, Kenneth Adu Amanfoh; and the Comptroller-General of the GIS, Kwame Asuah Takyi; Minister for National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah and other dignitaries.
