GLICO GROUP swept three awards in the recently held prestigious 2021 Ghana Insurance Awards in Accra.
The company demonstrated brilliance in three different categories of its subsidiaries – GLICO General, GLICO Life and GLICO Healthcare.
This earned Andrew Achampong-Kyei (Esq), Managing Director of GLICO General as the CEO of the Year in the General Insurance Category.
The astute lawyer, who assumed the Managing Director position of GLICO General in 2018, prior to his appointment, was the company secretary and head of Legal & Special Risk for GLICO Group.
Since he took over as Managing Director of GLICO General, the company has risen to become one of the top four (4) private non-life insurance companies in Ghana.
GLICO General thus continued its growth trajectory by reporting a year-on-year growth in key financial metrics.
In 2020, for the first time ever, GLICO General crossed the GH¢1 million mark which moved it from 5th position to 4th position.
GLICO General can today boast of an elaborate portfolio of businesses as well as the effective management of high-risk non-life insurance policies such as bonds and engineering policies.
Also, having touched many lives through countless donations to health centres in the country, its health wing – GLICO Healthcare, won the ‘Product Innovation Award’ (Private Health Category).
GLICO Life also extended its dominance to the personal lines insurer category and was adjudged the ‘Personal Lines Insurer of the Year’.
The Mobile Pharmacy, an example of GLICO’s exceptional innovation in healthcare, is a medicine delivery solution in collaboration with key pharmacies nationwide.
Themed ‘Rewarding standards in the insurance industry’, the award ceremony sought to reward companies doing exploits in the insurance industry.
GLICO Group’s acting Head, Corporate Affairs and Marketing Ms Kukua Apprey, commenting on the awards, said “We are excited for these honours. These are testament to what we have done in the year under review. Certainly, these will urge us on to go the extra mile to provide excellent services for our numerous clients.”
