Organizers of Ghana Fastest Human Race have for the third streak time inducted four fine athletes into the GNPC Speedsters Club at a ceremony in Acccra.
The inductees- Edwin Gadayi, West African 100m champion, Idrisu Musah, U-18 champion, Raymond French, a new discovery and Grace Obour, the new upcoming flying queen.
General Manager of Ghana National Petroleum (GNPC), Dr. Kwame Baah Nuakoh, charged the quartet to strive for excellence in their chosen endeavour.
He promised them of GNPC’s unflinching support to ensure that they realize their dreams of becoming world sprint champions.
Sharing life experience at the press briefing, Dr. Baah Nuakoh said “Nothing comes easy in life; you have to sacrifice, be disciplined and take the training regime very serious.”
Founder of the GNPC Ghana Fastest Human Race, Reks Brobby, hinted that that it is high time Ghana found its lost glory in the short distance events.
He mentioned that his team has partnered the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) and the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) to come out with a strategy on how to qualify for the 4 x100m relay for the first time in 22 years and shine at Tokyo 2020 and beyond.
The former national sprint king said the inductees would be based in Kumasi and train under the supervision of specialists doctors and coaches who will closely monitor their diet and progress for a year with sponsorship from GNPC.
The Olympian plans were in place to ensure his outfit create a pool of 20 fine athletes (Sprinters) by 2020 to take the world’s athletics by storm.
The athletes in separate interviews promised to make good use of the opportunity to make impact.
GNPC’s David Amofa and J. Ato Kobby, Kweku Sikahene Amponsah, a supporter of Ghana Fastest project graced the event.
