Goat Thief Lynched In Wa

A 17-year-old SHS Two student, Alhassan Habibu, has been lynched by some angry residents of Dondoli, a suburb of Wa in the Upper West regional capital, for allegedly attempting to steal a goat.

Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, the Upper West Regional Police PRO, ASP Joy Afegbedzi said the regional command received a call from the father of the deceased indicating that his son had allegedly attempted to steal a goat resulting in his death. And he was lynched by some angry residents.

According to ASP Afegbedzi, the father of the deceased ran to the crime scene where he saw his son lying in an unconscious state.

DAILY GUIDE has gathered that Alhassan Habibu was pronounced dead on arrival at the Upper West Regional Hospital in Wa.

ASP Joy Afegbedzi said examination by the police on the body of the deceased revealed marks of assault on his face, legs and bloody nose.

The body of Alhassan Habibu has since been deposited at the morgue of the regional hospital for autopsy.

No arrest had been made yet as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the Upper West Regional Police command has called for calm and peace in the area.

However, ASP Joy Afegbedzi disclosed that the Regional Police Command had launched investigations into the matter after which the perpetuators would be punished according to the law.
