GOLDSTAR AIR recently presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO), a non-governmental organisation, for onward distribution to individuals at some major lorry stations and market centres in Accra.

The donation was done as part of the airline’s corporate social responsibility christened ‘Goldstar Air Care Foundation’ and presented by the Executive Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Eric Bannerman.

It was received by Samuel Adobah, the Executive Director of UFO, supported by the Co-Executive Director, Rev. Johnson Adu.

The airline’s foundation integrates social and environmental concerns in its business operations.

After the presentation, the team moved to lorry stations and market centres around the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and the Neoplan Station to educate and distribute the PPE. This was to empower them to change their behaviours to protect themselves and others.

The airline is planning to kick start in 2021 and will initially be flying to twelve destinations namely; London, Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Dubai, and Providence International Airport, Guangzhou.
Other destinations are Dakar, Lagos, Monrovia, Abidjan, Freetown, Conakry, Banjul and pending cities, Atlanta-Georgia, Chicago-Illinois and Houston-Texas.
Goldstar Air is also projecting a fleet of more than 100 modern aircrafts to a network of over 90 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, Caribbean and North America.

Airline customers can enroll in the Goldstar Air Frequent-Flyer programme to accumulate points which may then be redeemed for air travel or other rewards.

“Our frequent-flyer programme which we call ‘Chalewote Card’ is worth more per mile when you fly on our long haul flights and business class seats. Goldstar Air will move together with our cherished passengers and offer points, miles and rewards in exchange for customer loyalty, which is why the Frequent Flyer card is named ‘Chalewote’ which in the Ghanaian local dialect means ‘Let’s Go Together’,” Mr. Bannerman noted.

He said the airline aims to provide affordable international travel packages, provide job opportunities for the youth, embark on its corporate vision as well as inspire and pioneer innovations in Ghana.

He continued that Goldstar Air was billed to commence the Goldstar City Project in Tamale soon.

The project is envisaged to create some 5,000 direct and indirect jobs for the people of Tamale and its environs and expected to open up business opportunities for Northern Ghana.

Present were Edmund Lamptey, John Ashong-Mettle, Rachael Quaynor and other management officials.
