Gov’t Committed To Completing School Projects

The Ministry of Education has told former President John Mahama that Government remains committed to completing all school projects left behind by his administration.

Mr. Mahama while in Mpaha, during his tour of the Savannah Region, reportedly criticized government for purposely abandoning the uncompleted Community Day Schools commenced during his tenure.

But the Ministry of Education in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ekow Vincent Assafuah, stated that “it appears former President Mahama has been ill-briefed on this matter.”

The Ministry clarified that as at December 2016, work on the Mpaha Community Day SHS was about 55 percent complete.

Physical work on the school was completed mid July 2019 and technical inspection for handing over was done.

“The school is ready and available for placement in the 2019/20 academic year and featured in the choice list for the 2019 BECE candidates,” according to the statement.

It added that it was therefore incorrect for the former President to state the school has been abandoned.

The statement noted that contrary to claims by some functionaries of the previous government, President Akufo-Addo’s government has not abandoned the Community Day Schools Project.
