The government has described as fake a list of deputy ministerial appointees making rounds in sections of social and mainstream media.
A popular news portal yesterday published on its site a story supposedly sourced from Ghana Guardian, claiming that government has released a list of Deputy Ministers-designate to make up for President Akufo-Addo second term.
The story among other things mentioned Richard Ahiagbah as the Deputy Minister-designate for Communication and Digitalisation; Yaw Adomako Baafi as Deputy Minister-designate for Information; famous music producer, Mark Okraku Mantey as Deputy Minister-designate for Tourism, Arts & Culture and Reverend Ntim Fodjour, MP for Assin South nominated as Deputy Minister-designate for Education.
The rest of the list included Charles Adu Boahen as Deputy Minister-designate for Finance; Kwaku Kwarteng as Deputy Minister-designate for Trade and Industries and Patrick Boamah as Deputy Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources.
In a swift rebuttal to the Ghanaweb publication, Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, said the publication was fake.
“This list or report is completely FAKE, kindly disregard,” he noted in a Facebook post.
According the Communications Director at the Presidency, the President has not released any list of Deputy Ministers-designate.
He further explained that the President has neither submitted any such list to Parliament
He, therefore, asked members of the public to disregard such false information.
