Members of Government’s Economic Management Team (EMT) have been on a public education roadshow on the 2019 budget since its reading in Parliament on Thursday.

The senior government officials have been busy since the day the budget was read; explaining it to Ghanaians like never before.

The 2019 Budget is themed “A Stronger Economy, for Jobs and Prosperity.” It outlines six priority areas while highlighting how the Akufo-Addo Administration has restored macro-economic stability in its first 22 months in office.

EMT members including Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo, have been leading the charge in providing further explanations and responding to citizens questions since Thursday afternoon.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta was a guest on Accra based Peace Fm’s morning show programme, “Kokrokoo” on Friday and on Joy Fm’s Newsfile on Saturday Morning.

Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo also participated in the late afternoon current affairs programme on Asempa FM on Thursday and was on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo on Friday morning.

The Trade Minister Alan Kyeremanten took time to explain and answer questions on the 2019 budget on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem while Professor George Gyan Baffour, Minister for Planning, responded to audience questions for nearly an hour on TV3’s New Day.

Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei featured on Citi Fm and Citi TV’s programmes to provide perspectives on the 2019 Budget.

Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says the move is part of efforts to boost government’s information dissemination on policies and programmes.

He said a simplified version of the budget has also been converted into six local languages and will soon be put out to engage citizens further on a citizen’s budget roadshow.

“The objective is to ensure deeper information dissemination and feedback in the governance process. We expected that these exercises will help deepen understanding of the budgeting and national economic management process,” he said.

The Citizen’s budget road-show will be held in selected districts across the country through durbars and town hall meetings.
