Greizmann Rubbishes Barca Link

Antoine Griezmann

Antoine Greizmann has rubbished claims he is ready to quit Atletico Madrid for Barcelona in the summer amid reports a deal is in place for him to join the Catalan club.

The Frenchman has been the subject of a long-standing transfer saga but has insisted anything suggesting he will leave the club at the end of the season is not reliable.

‘That information is not good,’ Griezmann told Telefoot, when asked about speculation linking him to Barcelona.

‘I don’t know anything about it, so for now there is nothing. I don’t know where you get this information from, but it is false.’

Greizmann’s recent form would have done nothing to dissuade his admirers, having scored nine goals in his last eight games for Atletico.

Manchester United have also been dubbed potential suitors for the 27-year-old and are expected to battle it out with Barcelona for his signature.

Despite insisting no talks with any clubs have taken place yet, Greizmann does want his future resolved before this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

He added: ‘I want to be free and think only about the French team.

‘I would like my future to be settled before the World Cup, otherwise, afterwards, we will have questions to the right and the left. I will continue as I am now, giving everything to the club.’

The forward scored an important equalising goal against Real Madrid on the weekend to ensure Atletico earned a share of the derby spoils and take his tally to 25 for the season.

His upturn in form has been well timed ahead of the World Cup this summer and Griezmann claimed he is back firing at his best after a sloppy start to the season.

‘Physically, I’m back [and] mentally, I’m better,’ he said.
