Group Defends Ghana Gas

A pressure group in the Western Region called Patriotic Ghanaian Youth (PGY) has denied claims made online by the Herald Newspaper that there is rot at the Ghana Gas Company Limited.

Speaking to the media on Monday, the group’s spokesperson, Anthony Cudjoe, expressed surprise that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) news outlet would wish to harm one of the most effective state organisations.

He stated that since the appointment of the present Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ben K. D. Asante, the company has been performing above what was typical under the NDC.

He claimed that under Dr. Asante, Ghana Gas Company has become the toast of the nation and has won numerous honours, including best performing state entity.

Additionally, Mr. Cudjoe emphasized that Dr. Asante has won the best chief executive award numerous times for his transparent business practices.

According to the group’s spokesman, Ghana Gas has been operating as a 100% Ghanaian company under the NPP government.

He said Dr. Asante has shown that the state organisation can be run by trained professionals and artisans from Ghana, the spokesperson added, and pointed out, “This is in contrast to the NDC’s prior practice of hiring foreigners to staff departments, offices, and operations at the Gas Company.”

Mr. Cudjoe said over 200 Ghanaians have been given the opportunity to attend university thanks to scholarships sponsored by Ghana Gas Company.

He noted that he was aware of special packages offered by Ghana Gas to schools in the Western Region whose infrastructure needed repair and maintenance.

He also underlined the numerous educational facilities Ghana Gas has provided to over 300 schools since 2017, noting that, aside from renovations, Ghana Gas has built schools in all 16 regions of the country.

He also mentioned sports amenities such as over 100 astro turfs in Ghana, with one in practically every district.

“I have it on good authority that almost every district in Ghana has benefited from Ghana Gas’s corporate social responsibility projects, and these projects have come about as a result of Dr. Ben Asante and his management’s prudent managerial strategy,” Mr. Cudjoe asserted.
