Getrude Naa Ankrah
The death was announced last Monday at the Ridge Hospital of one of the female stalwarts of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ayawaso North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
Hajia Damata Sulemana died after a brief illness and was until her demise a nurse/midwife in the Mamobi and Nima communities where she practiced privately. She used to be a staff of the Ghana Health Service until veering into private practice upon retiring from public service.
She was an aspiring MP for the NPP in the Ayawaso North Constituency during the last primary elections of the party.
Her daughter, Humu Dilly, is an active NPP member and currently an assemblywoman in one of the electoral areas in Accra.
Hajia Damata was a household name in Nima and Mamobi, having circumcised many a young boy in the Mamobi and Nima areas.
She was interred yesterday.
Also announced yesterday was the death of the Municipal Chief Executive Officer of the Ga North Municipal Assembly, Madam Getrude Naa Ankrah.
The deceased was once the Women Organiser for the Amasaman / Trobu Constituency.
