The General Manager of Rattray Park, Isaac Owusu, has been honoured by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

He is a proud recipient of the ‘Supporter of Tourism Activities 2019’ award for his invaluable contributions to the promotion of tourism across the country over the years.

The award, which falls under the honorary award category of the Ashanti Regional GTA Awards, was presented to Mr. Owusu in Kumasi over the weekend.

A touching citation accompanying the award highlighted the significant support that Mr. Owusu, who is a known benevolent, continues to give to the tourism sector.

The citation touched on the fact that the Rattray Park boss had and continues to promote tourism activities both in cash and in kind in the Ashanti Region.

There was a standing ovation at the Rattray Park poolside when Mr. Owusu walked to the podium to collect his award on Friday night.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Owusu dedicated the award to God and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for displaying quality leadership to transform Asanteman.

He also commended the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), workers of Rattray Park and all others who have supported him to reach his current status in life.

His son, Edmund Owusu, expressed how elated he was for his father’s award because his contributions to promote tourism in the country have been seen and rewarded.

Mr. Owusu, who is an outstanding tennis player, assured that the award would spur him on to do more for the tourism sector.

He said government cannot solely promote the tourism sector; therefore, he passionately appealed to well-to-do individuals and organisations to support tourism.

He said the tourism sector has the potential of positively marketing the country to the world and also accruing money for the state, so it should be supported.
