GTUC Lecturer Made Chief

Nana Osei Piesie-Anto

The newly-outdoored Chief of KUROM-Adwafo yet to be sworned in as the Adontenhene of Kokofu Traditional Area, Nana Osei Piesie-Anto, has appealed to his people to be united and support development efforts in the town by avoiding issues that would divide them.

Addressing hundreds of citizens and the invited guests at Kurom-Adwafo near Kuntenanse in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, he said the intention of government to address the basic problems of rural communities could best be achieved with the total involvement of the people themselves.

The newly-outdoored chief, who is a lecturer at the Ghana Technology University Village, Accra, a media practitioner, and a well-known socio-political commentator, said development could only be achieved in an atmosphere of unity and peace, which border on the ability to forgive each other to pave the way for the town to recapture its lost fortunes for the past sixteen years.

In a chat with the media on his vision for his people, he said he would focus on education of the youth and ensure that viable income- generating ventures were introduced to engage them in order to reduce the current state of youth unemployment.

Before his installation, Nana Osei Piesie-Anto had supported his people in the areas of tree planting, education assistance by the provision of school bags and exercise books; and also footballs and jerseys for the youth of the town for annual competitions.

One most visible benevolent activity of Nana Osei Piesie-Anto was the donation of twenty modern pews to the Krom-Adwafo St. Augustine Catholic Church, worth over GH¢20,000.
