Jamaican dancehall artiste Popcaan was captured in the latest video in circulation being whisked away for safety after an altercation broke out in a popular pub at East Legon, a suburb of Accra.
DGN gathered that the incident took place on Wednesday night when the international star was out having fun.
Gunshots were heard being fired while Police intervened to enforce the law and bring things under control.
Other guests outside the pub can be seen taking cover to protect themselves from getting hit by stray bullets.
It’s unclear what started the incident. Different media reports gave different accounts of the incident. While some reports claimed, Popcaan run into the altercation, others said there was an attempt to rob him.
“Unconfirmed reports indicate that a gang of robbers had attempted to rob the artiste and his security stepped in,” the Ghanaweb reported.
In the video of the incident shared by a Twitter user @SmoothHefner, a group of guys forced their way into the pub with one pointing out the Jamaican artiste.
The police then arrived allegedly amidst the firing of gunshots.
One of the supposed attackers is then brought out in handcuffs by the police and Popcaan is later led out in the company of the officers who guarded him into his car.
Another video of the incident uploaded by a Jamaican Youtuber with the account name Boom Bye Bye TV claims that the supposed attackers of the artistes attempted to rob him.
Popcaan has for some time now been spending quality time in Ghana. The earlier report says he spent $100,000 to purchase an Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Gold Brut champagne at an auction held by Ghanaian millionaire, Nana Kwame Bediako alias Freedom Jacob Caesar aka Cheddar.
In a Wednesday tweet, Popcaan urged Ghana’s government and Jamaica to work out a direct flight between the two countries ostensibly to facilitate travel to his newfound home.
“Happy new year everyone to the government of Ghana and Jamaica, we need a straight flight from Jamaica to Ghana!!! Make it happen please thanks in advance (sic),” he wrote.
