Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has justified Ghanaian public criticism of social media influencer, Hajia4Reall saying she brought it upon herself.
The socialite, born Mona Faiz Montrage was extradited to the US from the UK where she was arrested for fraud.
She was arrested at Heathrow Airport on November 10, 2022 when she was returning to Ghana after taking part in Ghana Music Awards UK.
Reports of her extradition to the USA have led to several people criticizing her for flaunting luxury lifestyle on social media. However, scores of other people have been trying to gag the public from criticizing or judging the socialite.
Maurice Ampaw who was speaking on Wontumi TV on Sunday about the issue said Hajia brought the backlash upon herself when she decided to show off her extravagant lifestyle.
He continued that she wouldn’t have received much criticism if she had maintained a low profile.
“If Hajia4Reall had sat down quietly enjoying her money from the romance scam, we wouldn’t have had any problem with her but she came to show off.
She was doing this and that and this …. I sat on a plane with her from Kumasi, and the way this girl was sharing money, meanwhile getting money is not that easy and she was just wasting money anyhow,” he said.
According to him, her decision to engage in flamboyant display of wealth drew scrutiny and invited criticism from the public. Unfortunately, such criticisms he suggested are not something that can easily be controlled.
