Heavy Wall Kills 2 In Kumasi

Debris of the collapsed wall found on the remains of the couple

RESIDENTS OF Ahenema Kokoben near Kumasi are in shock following the collapse of a six-feet wall that killed two people instantly.

The deceased persons were identified as Doryi Baanda, 32, and Joyce Lawah, 42, who are reported to be a couple and occupants of a single room on a plot of land.

Parts of Kumasi, including Ahenema Kokoben, recorded a heavy downpour on the dawn of Sunday, May 16, and that reportedly caused the wall to collapse.

The heavy wall fell on the single room situated behind the wall, trapping and killing the couple, who were reported to be asleep then.

The bodies have been deposited in a morgue for preservation and autopsy as police have started investigating the case.

A police report sighted by DAILY GUIDE said one Atta Collins, around 7am same day, reported the incident to the police.

Collins told the police that the fence wall got broken during the heavy downpour and collapsed on a single room on a plot behind his wall.

“That at 0645hrs he went to where the single room was and found Doryi Baanda, 32, and Joyce Lawah, 42, couple and occupants of the single room, lying motionless on their bed.

“Photographs were taken and the bodies sent to KATH where they were clinically confirmed dead,” the report noted.
