Hilda Dokubo Fights Actors’ Guild of Nigeria

Veteran actress Hilda Dokubo has registered her disappointment with the leadership of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) for appointing one Senator Elisha Abbo as patron of the association.

According to reports from Nollywood, Abbo was appointed patron by AGN President Emeka Rollas.

But some members of the association are not in support of the lawmaker who was last year allegedly captured in a viral video assaulting a nursing mother in a sex toy shop.

Hilda Dokubo described his appointment as an abuse of the right of females in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, thereby calling for his removal.

In a video she shared on her Instagram, she argued that a patron is to have a positive branding for an association, but she doesn’t see that happening with the new AGN appointment.

“The responsibility of patron is to educate and motivate people into positive action. Get him out now, I am calling all right thinking, mentally balanced honourable male and female members of AGN to stand up and reject Elisha Abbo as a patron of the association,” the actress wrote.

“I, Dokubo, will not have an abuser serve as a patron in an organisation that I belong to. An abuser of women as patron of Actors’ Guild of Nigeria is an unpardonable abuse of the rights of all the females in the creative space, especially actors. We must stop every attempt at rubbishing our values as a people with such appointments in whatever guise. Consequently, Senator Abbo ‘sextoysenator’ must be delisted from our list of patrons now,” she concluded.
