I Am No More Called FreQuency -Rapper

Kwame Dame

Rapper FreQuency says he no longer responds to the name with which he got introduced into Ghana’s showbiz scene.

In a press statement on Monday, he said, “Management wishes to inform the media and the general public about the change of his stage name to Kwame Dame. Kwame Dame is the birth name of the rapper and he resolves to use it as his official stage name.”

Dame now joins the list of showbiz personalities like Samini, Shatta Wale, Edem and a host of others who have changed their names over the years.

On the international music circles, P. Diddy is one artiste who is famous for changing for his name for branding purposes. A couple of years ago, Snoop Dog said he preferred to be called Snoop Lion, but one is not certain if his followers have accepted the name.

According to Dame, the name change is necessary “for easy recognition locally and internationally as he carries along with him his heritage as a Ghanaian.”

Born Samuel Nana Kwame Odame Ampofo, Dame is Ghanaian hip-hop and Afrobeats artiste who has high hopes of advancing his career and taking music from Ghana to the world.

He is known for his unique rap style and interesting punchlines. He hopes and prays that the media and the general public take notice of the name change.
