I Chased Hammer For Three Years – Edem

Edem

Rapper Edem says he spent three years trying to get the attention of music producer Hammer before his big break in the music industry.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, Edem said he started looking for Hammer right after senior high school because he admired his work.

He explained that he struggled to find him and often heard people mention a place called “Hash Hash” but could not get clear directions.

Edem said he eventually got Hammer’s number in 2003 through a friend linked to musician Samini.

He added that he was nervous to call and asked his sister to make the call for him after waiting for days.

According to him, Hammer invited him to the studio after the call.

“I went there and waited for hours before I finally saw him and introduced myself,” Edem said.

He said he kept returning to the studio for years, sometimes waiting long hours without meeting the producer.

Edem said his persistence paid off in 2006 when Hammer finally gave him a chance to record.

He recalled Hammer telling him, “Ghana is ready for you,” a moment he described as his breakthrough.
