SONA: I Didn’t Want Praise For Ending Dagbon Crisis – Nana

President Nana Akufo-Addo

PRESIDENT NANA Akufo-Addo has indicated that his efforts in resolving the protracted Dagbon chieftaincy crisis was not aimed at receiving praises or accolades.

He said his intention was to end the conflict and bring development to Dagbon.

According to him, the 17-year-old Dagbon chieftaincy crisis caused a lot of emotional stress, financial burden and wasted a lot of time for Ghanaians.

He stated that upon assuming office on January 7, 2017, he felt the need to address the conflict and use the emotional stress, time and finances to develop Dagbon.

That, he said, successfully led to the installment of a new Ya Na for Dagbon, Abubakar Mahama Andani on 25th January 2019.

Mr. Akufo-Addo said this as he commenced his third State of Nation Address (SONA) on February 21, 2019 on the floor of Parliament in Accra.

He started off by describing himself as the self-proclaimed prince of Dagbon “Abudani.”

According to him, the Chieftaincy Ministry was seeking to use the Dagbon example to resolve other protracted chieftaincy crisis nationwide.
