I Prefer Nigerian Movies To Ghanaian- Actress

Williet Enyonam Abla Gikunoo

Ghanaian actress Williet Enyonam Abla Gikunoo has declared that she preferred Nigerian movies to Ghana movies.

“I prefer Nigerian movies to Ghanaian movies because they take their time to shoot movies but in Ghana, producers rush the artistes to shoot their movies. For example, if a movie in Ghana takes a week to shoot, in Nigeria, it will take three weeks because it is well planned and executed properly. I would say that both of them are financially rewarding,” she said.

Abla Gikunoo has been in the industry for some time now and has featured in a number of movies including music videos.
She is also a singer and costumier.

She has featured in a number of movies in which she equally served as the costume designer.

“I came into acting and costuming eight years ago through a friend who introduced me to some producers. I was given a script to read and also got the job to be the costumier and actress of the same movie. I have featured in a lot of movies,” she explained.

The actress, who is one of the newest to join the league of screen divas, who have moved from being actresses to producers, disclosed that she has wrapped the shoot of her movie titled, ‘Time Will Tell.

The movie, described as intriguing, suspense-filled and comic, is directed by Bob Jay Stevens.

“The journey has been challenging because there are a whole lot of other colleagues who want to overtake me and I had to put extra efforts to maintain my position. I have also learnt a lot from the industry”, she said.

She however described her stay in the local movie industry as one devoid of sexual experiences. She said though there were claims of producers engaging young actresses in sex bouts in exchange for movie roles, she has personally not been confronted with such a situation.

According to her, no producer has attempted to get her into bed before a role. “No producer has chased me for sex. If you want it then you will get”, she stated simply.
