A Presidential staffer, Ibrahim Adjei, has called on residents especially delegates in the Ledzokuku Constituency to give him the nod in the upcoming parliamentary primary to enable him to recapture the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Ibrahim Adjei made the appeal when he addressed supporters at Teshie when he filed his nomination forms to contest in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries to represent the party in the 2024 elections.

According to him, having served the people of Ledzokuku in different capacities, for over 15 years, he understands their needs, challenges and, therefore, better placed to serve the needs of the constituents in Parliament.

“We are here as leaders to make impact in the  lives of people to make a difference, because the  people of Ledzokuku deserve leadership that listens to them, leadership that is focused on development and industry and will empower them. I am focused, and making sure that I can add value to the ambitions of the people, and that is why I want to lead as the servant leader so that I become a partner in what they want in life,” he stated.

Ibrahim Adjei, who is a known face, contested in the 2011 parliamentary primaries in the area, and now staging a comeback, also walked with supporters through the major LEKMA road to file amid singing of party songs and chanting of his campaign slogan ‘Ashii moko, Obiara bedidi’ translated as ‘Everyone will have some level of comfort’ when he is elected as the parliamentary candidate.

He said that though the area serves as the transit point for most businesses to all parts of the capital, especially fishing, residents could fairly boast of the needed development and appreciable living conditions commensurate with the resources they are endowed with.

He also mentioned plans of providing the needed resources and educational opportunities for residents to enable them to achieve their goals in life while acknowledging the work of all former Members of Parliament.

He further stated that despite the number of people who have shown interest and also picked forms to contest, he was optimistic of being elected as the parliamentary candidate for the area considering what the people want and expect of people who want to serve.

“I don’t see competition other than NDC in 2024, my focus is to make sure that we bring everybody on board, this is a national project, and we are making sure that everybody rises to the occasion. I am not contesting other aspirants, but I am contesting for the people of Ledzokuku, their ambition is what drives me.  I am sacrificing and dedicating every fibre, monetarily, physically, spiritually to make sure I deliver what they want for them to succeed in life,” he added.

The other four aspirants who have picked nomination forms so far to contest the position are former Member of Parliament for the area, Bernard Okoe Boye, Clifford Martey Korley, Nii Ashitey Olenu and Marcus Olan Adjei.

Mr. Adjei also thanked the constituency executives for their exemplary leadership in steering the affairs of the party at the constituency, and also pledged to ensure that his campaign is devoid of insults and acrimony that could threaten the stability of the party in its efforts to break the eight-year presidential cycle and win the Ledzokuku seat in 2024 as well.
