IGP Orders Arrest Of V8 Driver

The IGP/Dr. George Akuffo Dampare last Sunday ordered the arrest of the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser on the Accra to Kumasi Highway for allegation of inconsiderate driving.

According to a report the Police Chief while on board his service vehicle with registration number GP 1 and heading to Accra from Anyinam, spotted the Land Cruiser whose driver approaching from the opposite direction failed to observe the traffic ahead at Akim Nsutam.

The 29-year-old driver, Danso Gilbert Tweneboah, who was with a lone passenger in the vehicle with registration number GB 3729-20 was so inconsiderate that motorists in the opposite direction were compelled to veer to the shoulders of the road.

The IGP who had observed the unfolding bout of inconsiderate driving had his driver pursue the driver and upon catching up with him handed him over to the Kibi District Police transferred him to the Kibi MTTD for further action.

During routine examination of the vehicle’s documentation it was discovered that the insurance cover, using the National Insurance Code *920*57# indicated that it rather belonged to a Toyota Vitz.

The driver was subsequently kept in custody of the Kibi Police assisting in investigation and the vehicle impounded.

The IGP has mounted an accident-free Yuletide a campaign which has seen him engaging with various segments of commercial drivers in some parts of the country.
