Dr. Bawumia paying homage to Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III
The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has reaffirmed his commitment to preserving Ghana’s cultural norms and beliefs, while also working to reform those that need change.
During a tour of the Asuogyaman, Lower Manya, and Yilo Krobo constituencies in the Eastern Region, Dr. Bawumia engaged with traditional leaders and residents, assuring them of his future government’s dedication to collaborating with traditional authorities.
Bawumia began by acknowledging the rich cultural heritage of the communities, saying, “Our cultural norms and beliefs have largely stood the test of time, and a Bawumia Presidency will work to preserve the good while helping to reform the others.”
He spoke of the importance of collaboration between traditional authorities and the government, saying, “We will work together to address the ills of society, including the menace of deviant sexual behaviour.”
Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the significance of Ghana’s cultural heritage and promised to protect and promote it when he is elected President in the December 7 elections.
He was greeted by the warm smiles of the chiefs and people, who had gathered to hear his vision for the future.
The crowd nodded in agreement, as Dr. Bawumia indicated that his government would draw on the wisdom of chiefs and elders to find solutions that are rooted in “our cultural values,” yet adaptable to the changing times.
As he finished speaking, the crowd began to chant, “It is Possible! It is Possible!” Bawumia smiled, knowing that he had connected with the people.
