Kofi Osei Ameyaw
A GROUP calling itself the National Lottery Authority (NLA) Licensed Banker to Banker Agents and Operators Association, has called on the Director-General of the NLA, Kofi Osei- Ameyaw to formally introduce themselves to him.
That was after the Director General had appealed to all unlicensed lotto operators in the country to stop their illegal trade and meet with the Authority to license their operations.
Mr. Osei-Ameyaw had severally indicated that NLA under his watch was not in to witch-hunt any individual or groups but to ensure that lotto operations were conducted in accordance with the law.
To that effect, the Director General on Tuesday July 25, this year organized a special stakeholders’ forum attended by about 500 lotto operators, where he passionately appealed to them to come forward with their concerns and as well try as much as possible to get licensed.
It was after that meeting, according to David Offei Agyekum, CEO of Super4 Intelic Limited that the group was formed to, as it were, legalize the operations of its members in accordance with Mr Osei-Ameyaw’s appeals.
Mr. Offei Agyekum thanked the Director-General for giving unlicensed lottery operators the opportunity to be registered to operate within the law and called on other unlicensed operators to take advantage of the opportunity given them to be regularized.
Mr. Osei- Ameyaw who commended the group for the initiative said the Authority’s doors were still open to other operators to enable the Authority streamline the business for all parties.
Over 500 Unlicensed Lotto Operators, Lotto Writers, Retailers and Lotto Marketing Companies attended the Stakeholders Forum to interact with the Director-General of NLA and deliberate on ways to address the imbalances in the lottery industry to generate more revenue and create jobs for national development.
The NLA Director will on the 15th August meet separately with Lotto Operators to discuss their proposals in a public private partnership initiative.
