I’m Best To Lead NPP – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that after being trained for the past 16 years by President Akufo-Addo and former President John Agyekum Kufuor, he is well positioned to lead the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the next level.

According to him, he stands tall among the ten flagbearer aspirants as the most experienced person to provide the needed leadership for the governance of the country.

Dr. Bawumia told delegates in the Subin Constituency on Thursday morning how he rose from a running mate position to Vice President, stressing he knows Ghana better to proffer solutions to the challenges facing it.

“I have been groomed by both Presidents J.A. Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo and have had the opportunity to see every community in Ghana for the past 16 years. And so I am more experienced and competent to lead this party than any other,” he stressed.

He stated that his straightforward message to the NPP’s delegates was that “it is possible” to make Ghana succeed in all aspects of life.

Dr. Bawumia stated that the message was intended to rally members of the party to come up with ideas that would aid in the creation of the country that the people desired.

The Vice President remarked that the NPP has the human resources to turn around the country’s woes, therefore his clarion call.

“My message of ‘It Is Possible’ stems from the belief that we can achieve success if we work together to build the Ghana we all want to see,” he explained.

Unity

Dr. Bawumia urged the delegates to resist inclinations that want to divide the party’s front and to turn to him as a unifier and someone whose background and lifestyle bring people together.

He also urged the delegates to avoid religious and ethnic divisions, saying that regardless of their beliefs or backgrounds, they were first and foremost Ghanaians.

“Just look at me and be at peace with all people because I have 17 siblings, 9 of whom are Christians and 8 of whom are Muslims, and we have lived together in peace up until now because our humanity matters more than anything else,” Dr. Bawumia said.

Office

Earlier in the day, the Vice President commissioned an office building in Asokwa that had been presented to him by the Chief of Agric Nzema, Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafoh.

The office space would be used as the Vice President’s Ashanti regional campaign office.

Dr. Bawumia, who was joined by the MCE for Asokwa, Akwannuasah Gyimah, and Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, MP for Effiduase Asokore, as well as numerous high-profile party members, opened the facility by thanking the people of Ashanti Region for their love and support.
