ING. NANA Poku Agyeman, the Kumasi Metro Roads Director, has donated a whopping Ghc50,000 to College of Engineering, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

It’s the highest financial donation made by an individual to the Endowment Fund of the College, which has been established to support needy students and carry out other charitable works.

The largesse, according to Ing. Nana Poku Agyeman, is his own way of giving back to the KNUST College of Engineering, which is his alma-mater.

“I’m a civil engineer today because of the KNUST College of Engineering, where I received my education and I see it as proper for me to support the college to continue to deliver on its mandate.

“This college has played an important role in shaping my life and also helping me to become an important personality in society today, so it’s appropriate that I support the college,” he said.

Ing. Nana Poku Agyeman entreated other well-endowed people in society and organisations to emulate his shining example, saying, “I’m donating to the endowment fund as an alumni for others to follow suit.”

Prof Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko, Provost, College of Engineering, KNUST, who received the Ghc50,000 cheque, on Tuesday, commended Ing. Nana Poku Agyeman for his kind gesture.

“Thank you for honouring your promise, we are grateful,” he remarked with a broad smile on his face, adding that the endowment fund has been established to support needy students and embark on other positive works. According to him, Ing. Nana Poku Agyeman is a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineering, stressing that the Kumasi Metro Roads Director is making positive impact in society, so he should sustain his good works.

The Registrar of the College of Engineering, Ms. Aida Saeed, said we are “grateful for your timely support and we promise to use it for the advancement of the college,” adding, “We are asking for more from you in future.”

Those present included Dr. Yen Adams Sokama-Neuyam, Head of Department of Petroleum Engineering, Prof. Francis Kemausuor, Dean, Faculty of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering and Dr. Francis Boafo Effah, Head of Department Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
