Institute Of Islamic Studies Holds Graduation

The Institute of Islamic Studies and Research at Nima has held its 40th graduation ceremony in Accra, with a call on Muslims to embrace both secular and Islamic education in order to contribute their quota to the development of the nation.

Addressing the gathering, the Director of the Institute, Sheikh Abdul Karim Abubakar, who made the call, said it’s gratifying to note that the school always takes pride in being a place where theory combines with practice to give students proper understanding of Islam.

Sheikh Abdul Karim stressed that the lack of adequate teaching and learning materials was adversely affecting the general performance of the school.

He called for support from corporate organisations and individuals in order to expand courses being offered in the institute.

Sheikh Abdul Karim commended the graduands, especially the females, for being the first crop of students to graduate successfully alongside their male counterparts.

Twenty-three students graduated in Arabic and Islamic Studies at the SHS level, with nine and 39 students at the JHS and Pre-JHS level respectively.

A representative of the female students, Maryam Ishak, thanked the school authorities for the opportunities offered them to rub shoulders with their male colleagues.

She appealed to other females to emulate their examples to enroll in the school and eschew negative tendencies that bring the name of Islam into disrepute.

Students who excelled in various disciplines were awarded certificates and other mouth-watering prizes.
