Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Osei Assibey Antwi

A group of investors from China have expressed the desire to construct a world class hotel and international convention center in Kumasi to boost the local economy.

Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Osei Assibey Antwi, said his outfit has agreed to the proposal and is now searching for a land for the project.

He disclosed this during the official opening of 1st Ordinary Meeting of the 4th Session of the Assembly, which was held on Tuesday.

Osei Assibey also announced that KMA would focus on the Krofrom Market, which has become a white elephant.

“It’s with a big relief that I report on the status of the infamous Krofrom Market Project,” the KMA Boss announced.

“The assembly has received a ‘no objection’ from the Ministry of Finance to contract a loan from Fidelity Bank Ghana Ltd for the completion of the market.”

Osei Assibey also disclosed that the consultant, Avangarde Design Services has called on the contractors to move back to site.

The KMA used the programme to take stock of its activities for last year and also make plans for the future.
