Jayana interacting with some market women
Ghanaian gospel artiste, Jemima Annor Yeboah, whose showbiz name is Jayana, has distributed free locally manufactured face masks to market women at the Dome Market in Accra to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The gesture was part of the artiste’s annual Mothers’ Day project to honour the contribution of mothers and acknowledge their efforts.
Sharing the face masks to market women, the ‘Victory’ hitmaker educated them to wash their hands often with soap and under running water.
She indicated that the world was in its challenging time hence people needed to stand together to fight the virus that does not discriminate between race and origin.
The gospel artiste mentioned that market women were at risk of contracting the virus if safety and precautionary measures were not adopted.
Jayana again educated the traders about the guidelines outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and President Akufo-Addo, which included social distancing, hand washing and wearing the appropriate face masks to prevent contracting Covid-19.
She indicated that she intended to extend this gesture to other communities in the country.
The donation was also made possible by the kind support of JoeNick Fashion Design, located at Dome Pillar 2 in Accra.
Jayana, daughter of the late Bishop Dr Annor Yeboah, former Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), announced her presence in the music scene when she participated in the maiden edition of the Stars of the Future talent show, competing with the likes of Irene Logan, Jean, now Efya, Ramzy and Prince Amui.
She released her single titled, ‘Victory’ in 2019 featuring Joyce Blessing.
She was nominated for Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year and Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2019 edition of the Emerging Music Award.
