Two persons accused of murdering the late Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North, JB Danquah-Adu have been once again committed to stand trial at the High Court.

This follows the presentation of the facts and exhibits by the Office of the Attorney General on Daniel Asiedu aka Sexy Don Don and Vincent Boso alias Junior Agogo who according to the state murdered the late MP in his Shiashie home in February 2016.

Daniel Asiedu, who according to the prosecution, stabbed the late MP multiple times in the neck and chest is facing three charges of conspiracy, robbery and murder while his accomplice has been charged with conspiracy to rob.

Sefakor Batse, a senior state attorney who represented the AG told the court presided over by Magistrate Arit Nsemoh that the state has 29 exhibits and 11 witnesses to prosecute the case at the High Court.

The court after listening to the prosecution, committed the two to stand trial at the High Court, saying they have a case to answer.

This will be the second time the accused have been committed to stand trial after the AG entered ‘Nolle Prosequi on May 29, 2017 and the suspects were rearrested.

Facts

Per the facts presented to the court by Ms. Batse, the two suspects between February 8 and 9, 2016 both planned to go on a robbery spree armed with a screw driver, a pair of scissors, a sharp knife, a catapult and other weapons.

She said the two suspects met at Kwame Nkrumah Circle where they took a Madina-bound vehicle and later alighted at Shiashie near East Legon.

“There was a misunderstanding between the two as to which house to rob and this led them to part ways. A2 (Vincent) boarded a vehicle back home whiles A1 (Daniel) continued scouting the area and ended up in the deceased’s house. The deceased had returned from work at about 11:40pm on February 8, 2016”, the court heard.

Ms. Batse stated that the late MP was far asleep when Daniel Asiedu got to the house about 1am on February, 2016.

She said the suspect managed to scale the wall and entered the house easily because the security man was also far asleep.

She told the court that Daniel found a ladder in the house and used it to climb into the late MP’s bedroom through the window and began ransacking the room.

The state prosecutor said the noise woke the late JB Danqua-Adu up and he struggled with the suspect who stabbed him several times in the neck and chest till he collapsed and died.
