Jealous Wife Kills Husband

A 32-year-old trader identified as Esi Arthur has been arrested by the police for allegedly hitting her husband with piece of wood, leading to his untimely death.

The sad incident occurred at Gomoa Akropong in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region and the suspect is currently held at the Agona Swedru District Police Command.

Angry residents and some family members of the deceased, Francis Kwame Anthony, believed to be 44 years, besieged the Swedru Police Station yesterday and demanded that the wife be brought out for them to administer instant justice, but the police kept them at bay.

Ebenezer Anthony Nyasor, father of the deceased, claimed that his in-law (suspect) had hit his son’s head with 4/4 wood twice and that put him in a state of unconsciousness and he died later in the hospital.

The marriage became frosty after Francis Anthony, now deceased, reportedly impregnated another woman on the blind side of the suspect.

Mr. Nyasor revealed that since the incident, his in-law has consistently been saying that she will kill his son who is a driver, for giving birth outside marriage but they thought it was a joke until it became a reality on Tuesday.

“Initially, the wife did not want to tell the truth about what actually happened. She was giving incoherent answers. I then threatened that I was going to invoke curses and she started saying she had hit his head with a wood and he fell unconscious,” Mr. Nyasor stated.

The father admitted that the son impregnated another lady and gave birth to a daughter, and the suspect is aware that his son has been visiting the kid in Swedru.

The father said the lady (second wife) called his son and the suspect did not allow him to go out and that brought a fight which resulted in the unfortunate death.

“She once threatened to poison my son and my son had to leave the house and the family had to intervene at a point,” the father said.

Diana Ama Anthony, sister of the deceased, also claimed the couple were always quarrelling and that she hit her brother twice with the leg of a wooden table.
