A jealous woman Clara Atinpere, who suspected another woman of having an amorous relationship with her husband, has allegedly bitten off the lower lip of her supposed rival.
The incident happened on Friday, January 18, 2019 in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality of the Western Region.
The victim, Beatrice Ababio, 23, a hairdresser apprentice, was rushed to the Kwesimintsim Government Hospital for treatment after the incident.
However, doctors on duty indicated that the cells in the severed part of the body had died so could not stitch it to the mouth.
According to sources, Clara, believed to be a nurse, could not fathom why her husband gave lift to the apprentice.
She allegedly pursued the victim to her salon and bit off her entire lower lip in a cannibalistic manner.
A report was later made to the police who are still investigating the case.
Police
The Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, said that on Friday, January, 18, 2019, Clara Atinpere first reported that she saw Beatrice in her husband’s vehicle and when she confronted her, the apprentice bit her hand.
The Police gave Clara a medical form to go to the hospital for treatment.
According to the Police PRO, later a gentleman also travelled to the police station and informed the police that he saw two women fighting during which one bit the lip of the other.
The gentleman told the police that the victim collapsed in the process and was rushed to the hospital.
DSP Adiku added that the police proceeded to the hospital and saw doctors attending to Beatrice Ababio.
He indicated that because Beatrice was in pain, she could not talk.
On Sunday, the victim gave her statement to the police.
Beatrice disclosed that she knew the man driving the vehicle to be Clara’s boyfriend, who lived at her uncle’s house at Bankyease, near Takoradi.
She revealed that last Friday morning she was not feeling well so she decided to buy food to eat in order to take her medicine.
The apprentice said the man later gave her lift to the place to buy the food.
Beatrice indicated that after eating, she went to her salon but was confronted by Clara, who asked what she was doing in her husband’s vehicle.
“As I was explaining, Clara attacked me and bit my lower lip. I did not see anything again and when I woke up I realized I was in a hospital,” Beatrice said in the statement.
DSP Adiku mentioned that the police have invited the women and the man who gave Beatrice the lift for further interrogation.
