Jennifer Lopez Mistaken For Vera Wang At 2018 Met Gala

With over 30 years of acting, singing and dancing credits to her name, she is one of the most recognisable talents in show business.

But Jennifer Lopez was involved in an awkward case of mistaken identity on Tuesday morning by BBC when her name was used as the caption for an interview with Vera Wang on the Met Gala 2018 red carpet.

Acclaimed fashion designer Vera, 68, was briefly captioned as ‘singer Jennifer Lopez’ during a fashion chat before the caption was incorrectly changed for a second time to ‘director Baz Luhrman’.

During the interview, Vera said, “One of the most amazing things is to see people so focused on fashion, I know that the Oscars and the Golden Globes have red carpets in that industry but this is about art and being fearless.”

That night, the designer walked the red carpet with pop singer Ariana Grande, having dressed her for the annual costume gala.

Vera had created a custom ball gown for the star-based on the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination theme.

The short BBC News fashion segment was not filmed live, but instead broadcast the next morning, featuring a compilation of video content from the evening

It’s not clear how the mix-up happened since Jennifer Lopez’s celestial red carpet dress had been designed by fashion house Balmain, by her friend Olivier Rousteing.

Red carpet queen Jennifer had fully embraced the theme of the evening in a heavily embellished dress black, red and blue dress. She was pictured with designer Olivier but brought her boyfriend Alex Rodriguez as her red carpet date.

The World Of Dance judge, 48, showcased her long, bronze legs in a gem-encrusted gown with a bold cross on the front.

Jennifer oozed elegance in the couture frock which crept high on her thigh to show off her stellar stems.

The Selena star’s number featured lattices of gold beading and angular shoulders, all blending into a lush ostrich feather train flowing behind her. Up front a blue, red, and gold cross evoked the theme of Catholic glamour.  Simple black peep toes elevated her look another degree.

Monday’s Met Gala, fondly known as ‘The Biggest Night in Fashion’, brought out all of the biggest stars of screen, stages, and style.
