Actor cum Politician, John Dumelo is making his intention to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Greater Accra region into the 2024 polls again.

He has picked his nomination forms to contest in the parliamentary primary of the party.

John Dumelo who is also a farmer will not be contesting the upcoming NDC primary without any challenge as his colleague actor, Fred Nuamah has also picked nomination forms to represent the NDC as their candidate.

Fred Nuamah is lacing his boots to contest the parliamentary primary with Dumelo.

He will be the second celebrity to contest the seat after John Dumelo failed to beat Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 elections.

However, If John Dumelo wins the internal elections of the NDC, it will be his second attempt to wanting to become the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area after his first attempt failed in the 2020 elections.

John Dumleo tweeted on Sunday, February 26, 2023 that “After extensive consultation with my God, my family and our party faithful in Ayawaso West Wuogon!

“This’s the second coming.”

Earlier report had suggested that Dumelo was heading to the Oti region to contest at the newly created Guan constituency where he is currently farming. But it appears there is a change of mind to stay put at the Ayawaso West Wuogon.

In the 2020 elections, the incumbent MP for the area, Lydia Seyram Alhassan defeated John Dumelo to retain her seat in Parliament.

Per the report from the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Alhassan, who contested the parliamentary seat on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) won with 39,851 votes whereas John Dumelo polled 37,778 votes.
