A scene during the screening exercise
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust-(SSNIT), Kade in collaboration with the Kade Government Hospital (KGH) has organised a free breast screening program for SSNIT staff and customers to mark this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The exercise commenced with a short presentation on the signs, symptoms, and myths about breast cancer, by the Health Promotion Officer of KGH, Yaw Ofosu Mensah.
Public Health Nurse, Eunice Ayimaa gave a demonstration on how to do self-examination for early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
She also seized the opportunity to advise both men and women to do self-examination assessment at least once a month and also go for breast screening at a health facility at least once a year.
The Branch Manager of SSNIT-Kade, Marian Adjei, noted that the concept of breast cancer awareness month is to educate both women and men on the importance of diagnosing cancer at early stages when treatment is easier and the outcome is better.
She was thankful to KGH for accepting to screen her staff and customers present and hopes that there will be more of such collaborations in the near future.
Customers and staff of Kade SSNIT Branch were elated to have one-on-one interactions with medical officers after being screened. They requested more of such avenues.
