It was an emotional sight at the State House on Saturday, July 28, when the six-year-old daughter of the late Deputy Chief Executive of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme (NEIP), Madam Stacy Offei Darko, shed uncontrollable tears.

Little Nana Akua Agyapong, whose father is maverick politician, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong ,could not hold back her tears as she wept bitterly at the sight of the remains of her deceased mom, attracting the heartfelt empathy of sympathizers and a large section of the public who had gathered to pay their last respect to the late Stacy.

A female member from her late mother’s congregation, the Christ Apostolic Church, had to vacate her seat to hug and console the little girl.

The burial ceremony of the late Stacy which started at about 9am at the forecourt of the State House was well attended by a large section of the public.

The event also saw the attendance of high-ranking dignitaries across the social and political spheres of the country.

Government officials, traditional rulers, staff of the NEIP, among several others, were all in attendance to pay their last respect to the deceased.

Members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by its General Secretary, John Boadu, also came in their numbers to commiserate with the bereaved family and to pay their last respect to the ‘baby mama’ of their colleague, Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central.

Leaders and members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Tema conducted a beautiful service while the choir treated sympathizers and loved ones to melodious songs.

The body of the late Stacy was interred at the Osu Cemetery in Accra. She was described by many as kind and highly disciplined.

The late Stacy died on Monday, May 21, under controversial circumstances at the Advanced Body Sculpt Centre of the Obengfo Hospital in Accra.

Social media reports suggested that Stacy might have gone to the hospital, which is known to be a body-sculpting centre, to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy or undergo a liposuction.

However, mother of the late Stacy, Nana Akosua Anima, came out to debunk such claims insisting that her daughter was beautiful and had a perfect body.

She said her daughter only visited the health facility to seek medical attention after she had suddenly fallen ill with malaria.

According to Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, with whom the late Stacy had a daughter, a friend of Stacy, who accompanied her to the hospital, told him that they went to the place on two occasions before her untimely death.

Resident doctor at the facility where Stacy passed on, Dr Alfred Obengfo, who collapsed at the Nima Police Station after his arrest, has since been granted bail alongside a cleaner who posed as a relation of the deceased before Stacy’s body was admitted into a morgue without the knowledge of the family.
