Kennedy Agyapong
Firebrand Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, is set to show a video he claims captured ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas engaging in corruption.
He said he would premiere the video he has titled: ‘Who Watches The Watchman’ at the forecourt of Kencity Media, which operates Oman FM and Net2 Television at Madina in Accra.
The MP has been involved in a public spat with Anas and his Tiger Eye PI since former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi was arrested by the police after Anas’ blockbuster expose on corruption in Ghana football hit the public domain.
Modus Operandi
The MP, who clearly does not appear to be a fan of Anas, has started questioning the modus operandi of the journalist whose name evokes fear in people, especially the political elite and the powerful in society.
Mr. Agyapong, after the arrest of Mr. Nyantakyi, threatened to ‘expose’ Anas because he claimed the journalist has cobwebs in his closet, and that he is not what he is being portrayed in the eyes of the public.
According to the MP, who is noted for speaking his mind, the modus operandi of Anas in soliciting information for public consumption contravenes the law.
He said the popular journalist is being spurred on by a section of the public to destroy people’s reputations by trapping them with ‘juicy’ offers.
He called for an injunction to be placed on the premiering of Anas’ video about corruption in football dubbed No 12, claiming that the journalist has an agenda to destroy people.
But Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team eventually showed the documentary across the country.
In the ensuing debate, the MP travelled to China and promised to provide evidence to buttress his claims that Anas has also been taking bribes.
He returned last Thursday and said on Oman FM’s talk show programme, ‘Boiling Point’that all is set for the premiering of ‘Who watches the watchman,’ which he said is his version of secret recordings of how the investigative journalist operates undercover.
He insisted that the modus operandi of Anas motivated him to ‘expose’ the journalist.
The legislator promised that his video would vindicate his position that Anas is not a ‘clean guy’ as being portrayed by a section of the public.
