King Promise
After missing out on the coveted Artiste of the Year (AOY) title at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Award (TGMA) which generated a lot of buzz on social media, organisers of the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) USA have honoured Afrobeat sensation, King Promise, with the ultimate AOY award last Saturday at the Grand Resort Hotel, New Jersey.
This award was in recognition of King Promise’s hard work under the year of review, beating the likes of Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Kuami Eugene, Black Sherif, Shatta Wale, Amerado, Nacee, Piesie Esther, and Diana Hamilton.
Other award winners include Akostik, Emerging Artiste; King Paluta, New Artiste; Diana Hamilton, Gospel Artiste of the Year (Ghana); Mz Nana, Artiste of the Year (USA); Nacee, Aseda, Gospel Song of the Year; Nana NYC, Most Popular Artiste; Millicent Yankey, Artiste of the Year For five Years; Herty Corgie, Music Concert of the Year; Ama Kutin, Female Vocalist of the Year; Ama Ka’rin, Afro Pop/ Afrobeat Artiste of the Year among others.
King Promise’s recent success is further highlighted by his groundbreaking Asia tour, where he made history as the first Ghanaian artiste to host sold-out concerts in Singapore and other major cities like Bali and Jakarta.
King Promise made a breakthrough onto the music scene in 2017 with his debut single, ‘Thank God’, which quickly garnered massive airplay.
His follow-up hits, including ‘Oh Yeah’ and ‘Selfish’, cemented his status in the Ghanaian music industry.
Collaborations with top artistes such as Wizkid, Shatta Wale, and Patoranking have only expanded his reach and solidified his fan base.
His acclaimed 2020 album, ‘As Promised’, received numerous award nominations, showcasing his talent and versatility.
With accolades from prestigious platforms like the GMA, TGMA, and the Headies, King Promise continues to be a formidable force in the music world.
Many are anticipating another AOY win at the 3Music of the Year awards slated for September 28, 2024.
