KNUST Lecturer Granted Bail

Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey and his wife

A HIGH Court in Kumasi has granted bail to a senior lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) who is standing trial for his alleged involvement in the disappearance of his wife, Rhodaline Amoah-Darko.

The court, presided over by Justice Daniel Obeng, granted bail to Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey, head of the Petroleum Engineering Department at the KNUST, in the sum of GHȼ300,000 with one surety to be justified.

Two previous attempts to secure bail for him since his arraignment were unsuccessful.

The case has been adjourned to October 17, 2022.

The lecturer is in the grips of the law with two other men namely Justice Appiah, and Yaw Boateng, who were reportedly apprehended with the victim’s mobile phone.

Reports indicate that three teaching assistants of Dr. Wilberforce Aggrey have, so far, testified in the case.

Rhodaline Amoah-Darko, a staff of the Lands Commission, in Kumasi, was reported missing since August 30, 2021, leading to the arrest of her husband.

In his statement to the police, Dr. Aggrey denied being responsible for the disappearance of his wife, insisting that his wife did not return home on August 30, 2021, after leaving the house.

He explained that he slept in the house with his kids and some teaching assistants on that fateful day, but the teaching assistants have contradicted his claims.

According to them, they slept with their lecturer’s children at their hostel and returned to the house the next day when Rhodaline was not around.
