The suspect
The Prempeh Assembly Hall District Court has once again remanded Daniel Tuffuor, the suspect in the alleged murder of Joana Deladem Yabani, a final-year student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
This is to allow the Office of the Attorney General (AG) to review the case docket on the suspect.
The AG is expected to review the case thoroughly and decide whether there is enough evidence to charge the suspect with the offence of murder or any other charge.
This came to light when Daniel Tuffuor was hauled before the Prempeh Assembly Hall District Court in Kumasi on Monday, March 17, 2025.
The suspect is expected back in the same court on April 1, 2025, by which time the AG’s Department may have come out with their suggestions for the way forward in the case.
Joana Yabani was found dead behind the Central Laboratory on KNUST campus few weeks ago, sparking fear and tension among students of the university.
The Ghana Police Service and the internal security of the university were alerted about the incident.
Few days after Yabani’s shocking demise, Daniel Tuffuor, also a student of KNUST, who is alleged to be the boyfriend of the deceased, was arrested as key suspect.
He was initially arraigned and remanded by the same court on February 28, 2025, and he has since remained in police custody, assisting in investigations.
